زار ممثلو 18 مجموعة اغترابية وزير الداخلية والبلديات أحمد الحجار في إطار جهودهم لضمان حق اللبنانيين غير المقيمين في اقتراع عادل ومتساوٍ
وأكد الوفد رفضه القاطع لحصر تصويت المغتربين بستة مقاعد فقط، مطالبين بإلغاء هذا القيد، واعتماد اقتراع شامل يشمل جميع النواب الـ128، أسوةً بالمقيمين.
ودعا المجتمعون إلى تنسيق مبكر بين وزارتي الداخلية والخارجية لتأمين فترة تسجيل مناسبة تتيح للمغتربين اتخاذ قرارهم بحرية، سواء بالتصويت من الخارج أو القدوم إلى لبنان للاقتراع. كما سلّطوا الضوء على التحديات المتعلقة بتجديد الهويات وجوازات السفر، التي تعيق مشاركة فعالة للمغتربين.
وفي ختام اللقاء، عبّر الوفد عن أمله بأن تخرج اللجنة الوزارية المعنية بدراسة قانون الانتخاب بتوصيات واضحة تكرّس مبدأ المساواة الدستورية وتكفل مشاركة فعلية وشاملة للمغترب اللبناني في الحياة الديمقراطية.
Representatives of 18 diaspora groups met with the Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad Al Hajjar on Monday, July 28 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to secure the right of non-resident Lebanese to fair and equal voting.
The delegation firmly rejected limiting diaspora voting to only six parliamentary seats and called for the full reinstatement of voting rights for all 128 MPs, just like resident Lebanese citizens.
They also urged early coordination between the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs to ensure a sufficient registration period that would allow expatriates to decide freely whether to vote from abroad or travel to Lebanon. The delegation also raised concerns about difficulties in renewing IDs and passports, which hinder effective diaspora participation in elections.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation expressed hope that the ministerial committee tasked with reviewing the electoral law would adopt clear recommendations that enshrine constitutional equality and ensure meaningful and inclusive participation of the Lebanese diaspora in the democratic process.
